WREX — NIU fans were excited to return to Huskie Stadium on Saturday as the Huskies hosted San Diego State University on a beautiful afternoon in DeKalb.

For a late September Saturday, you'd almost think this game was played in San Diego with how warm it was.

A great crowd, however, saw a football game that had zero touchdowns.

NIU took the opening kickoff and got into Aztec territory with a 16 play, seven-minute-drive, but that drive stalled out and the Huskies opened the scoring with a 31 yard field goal to make it 3-0.

The Aztecs took a page out of the NIU playbook with a 13 play drive that also took up seven minutes and kicked a field goal to tie things at 3.

That's when the punters took over.
