One person was killed and two others, including a 6-year-old child, suffered life-threatening injuries in fire truck crash during homecoming festivities in southwestern Minnesota on Friday.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the crash on 490th Street, just north of 160th Avenue, near Lakeview School in Cottonwood around 6:30 p.m.

That's where a Wood Lake fire truck had crashed, with first responders arriving at the scene to find the rig on its side in the ditch.

One man was found trapped under the vehicle. The man, identified as 43-year-old Patrick Steven Remiger, of Wood Lake, died in the crash.
