COTTONWOOD, Minn. — A fire truck crash claimed the life of one person on Friday evening in southwestern Minnesota.

According to the press release, authorities received a report of a single-vehicle crash around 6:36 p.m. on 490th Street in Cottonwood.

Upon arrival, first responders found a Wood Lake Fire Truck on its side in the west ditch. Authorities say the truck was travelling north when it overturned and landed in the West ditch near 160th Avenue.

Authorities report that three people were inside the truck at the time of the crash, including a six-year-old child. The child and the driver suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital via air ambulance.
