We know great white sharks love to hang out along the Massachusetts coast. Though encounters are rare, scientists tell us the shark population is thriving on Cape Cod . But this summer seemed a little different . We didn't see as many videos or photos of the apex predators on the Cape -- but we did see quite a few in Maine.

After a summer of shark sightings in Maine, we wanted to find out if there are more great white sharks patrolling its coast, and how alert swimmers, surfers and boaters need to be.
