A DWP Universal Credit £1,200 boost is being paid into the accounts of thousands of claimants. More than 575,000 people have received an extra cash payment so far.

The money comes from a Government scheme that's now open to all Universal Credit claimants who are also working. In practice, this means that you (or you and your partner if it's a joint claim) must have take-home pay of £1 or more in your last monthly assessment period to be eligible.

Nationally, 34 per cent of people on Universal Credit also have a job and qualify for the benefit to supplement a low wage, help with high rents, or assist with care costs for disabled children. In Birmingham , around 27 per cent of Universal Credit recipients are in employment.
