Residents heading out early Sunday morning may encounter damp conditions, but forecasters say the rain will move out quickly, giving way to sunshine and warmer weather across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and occasional downpours lingered in parts of Newark, including the Ironbound section near Ferry Street and Van Buren Street, as of 4:30 a.m.
However, skies are expected to gradually clear by around 5 a.m., setting the stage for a pleasant day.
Temperatures will rise steadily, with a high near 84 degrees. Light winds from the west will develop in the afternoon.
The mild start means a light jacket may be comfortable in the morning, but conditions are expected to warm enough for most to shed the extra layer as the day progresses.
