A man has been taken into custody after opening fire from a boat at a waterfront restaurant Saturday night, killing three people and injuring at least five others, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation .

Nigel Max Edge was identified as the shooter and is being held without bond. He is facing multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, with additional charges pending, Southport Police said.
