SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Board of State and Community Corrections has awarded an additional $127 million in grant funding to bolster mental health services and substance-use treatment in local communities across California.
The funding aims to help support public agencies, tribal communities, and community-based organizations.
Officials say the grants are part of savings from Proposition 47, which reduced penalties for certain nonviolent crimes. These savings have been directed towards programs offering behavioral health services. This round of funding also includes programs under Proposition 36.
