Weather maps suggest Britons could soon face snow as autumn tightens its hold.

The GFS weather model charts indicate snow falling across the Scottish Highlands and the northern section of Argyll and Bute at approximately 6am on October 7.

The information suggests snow could be tumbling at a rate of roughly 3cm per hour with Glencoe, Ben Nevis and Invergarry potentially affected.

The heaviest snowfall is anticipated west of Fort William, with precipitation gradually lessening in strength further north up to northwest of Inverness. Around 1cm is predicted to actually accumulate on the ground in the impacted regions.
