One week after scoring its fewest points in a win since 2021, No. 4-ranked Montana State opened Big Sky Conference play Saturday with its most points in a game since 2023.

The Bobcats had just six offensive possessions last week in a 17-0 win against Mercyhurst, which featured long drives for both teams but — despite the shutout — a frustrating lack of execution the whole way through for MSU players on both sides of the ball.

Saturday’s 57-3 decision against Eastern Washington at Bobcat Stadium had a few troubling special teams moments, but the Bobcats on offense and defense were far more effective than a week prior. They improved to 3-2 overall this season and start 1-0 in the league.
