BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A large mural in downtown Burlington was vandalized overnight after the first day of painting.

The project, called Building Blocks, was designed by a local artist and is intended to transform the corner of 266 Main Street and College Street with art along the wall. Saturday and Sunday were designated as Community Paint Days, where everyone is invited out to come and help paint the mural.

Much of the wall was painted with big chunks of color Saturday, and the painting wrapped up in the afternoon, set to continue Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

Then, early Sunday morning, pictures surfaced on social media showing much of the mural had been vandalized with graffiti.
