BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - On this day in history, Vermont said goodbye to “the music man.”

Dick Ellis passed away on September 28th, 2015, after leaving a lasting mark on the education of generations of young people.

Starting in the 1940s, Ellis’ business rented thousands of band instruments each school year to elementary students in Vermont and New Hampshire. Ellis also conducted the town band in South Royalton for decades and was featured as a WCAX super senior.
