Sunday morning, a citizen brought a grenade to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office after locating it on Saturday.
Deputies immediately secured the device and contacted the Tupelo Bomb Squad, who are currently on the way to safely dispose of it.
As a precaution, the immediate area around the Sheriff’s Office has been secured while law enforcement awaits the arrival of the bomb squad. At this time, there is no threat to the public, and all safety protocols are being followed.
