BEAUMONT, Texas — A 3-year-old boy died Saturday evening after police found him at the bottom of an apartment complex swimming pool during a missing child search.

Officers responded to the Edge Apartments at 5230 S Martin Luther King Parkway just before 7 p.m. Sept. 27 following reports of a missing child, police said.

The search led officers to the complex's pool, where they discovered the boy at the bottom. Police immediately began lifesaving procedures before emergency medical services arrived.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigation. No additional details were immediately available.
