Mindy O’Neall, 44, moved to Alaska more than 20 years ago, spending the past 13 in Fairbanks. She currently leads the Cold Climate Housing Research Center and served six years on the borough assembly, including multiple terms as presiding officer.

O’Neall worked for the Alaska State Legislature, helped launch the Interior Gas Utility, and represented laborers in public contracts. She earned a masters degree from University of Alaska Fairbanks.

During her time on the borough assembly, O’Neall served as the chair of the Planning Commission, funded education, supported public employees, parking and residential deregulation downtown, balanced budgets below the tax cap, voted to improve non-motorized facilitates, and backed the Climate Action Plan.
