PVR INOX has cancelled its plans to screen the India-Pakistan Asia Cup final in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, announced the Shiv Sena (UBT), which opposed the plans citing public anger over Pakistan’s alleged role in the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
In a statement on X, the Sena (UBT) said on Sunday that party functionary Akhil Chitre had spoken to PVR management, following which the multiplex chain agreed to drop the screening.
“Cricket matches with Pakistan are a mockery of the sentiments of the Indian public. After discussions, PVR has cancelled all India-Pakistan screenings,” the post read.
The Sena (UBT) has argued that organising or showing such matches amounts to disrespecting the victims of terrorism and the armed forces.
