FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Florence Police Department says an off-duty officer was arrested on Saturday.

According to FPD, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 disturbance call involving an off-duty Florence Police officer and another.

After an on-scene investigation and talking with multiple witnesses, FPD said the off-duty Florence Police officer, Evan Thornton, was arrested for third-degree domestic violence.

He was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center and had a $5,000 bond.

FPD said Thornton has been placed on administrative leave.
