GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - Multiple people have been injured in an active shooter situation at the Church of Latter Day Saints, a Mormon church in Grand Blanc Township early Sunday.

The Grand Blanc Township Police Department said the shooter is ‘down’ and that the church is also actively on fire.

Police are asking people to avoid the area as there is a massive presence from first responders as they work to put out the fire. There is no further threat though, according to the department.

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson posted a video on facebook regarding the shooting describing it as a ‘dynamic scene’ but reaffirming there is no longer a threat to the public. Swanson said the ‘entire church’ is on fire.
