WASHINGTON, DC – Flames erupted inside a Southeast Washington apartment Saturday morning, forcing two residents out of their home and prompting a quick response from the DC Fire and EMS Department.

Crews were called to the 1200 block of Chaplin Street SE for a reported Box Alarm. Firefighters contained the blaze to the first-floor kitchen, preventing it from spreading further into the residence.
