FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KY3) - The University of Arkansas fired head football coach Sam Pittman on Sunday.
Athletics Director Hunter Yurachek named former head coach and offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino as the interim coach.
“I want to thank Coach Pittman for his service and dedication to the University of Arkansas throughout his time as head coach,” Yurachek said. “From Day 1, you could tell how much this opportunity meant to him. At this time, however, I feel a change is necessary to put our student-athletes and program in the best position to be successful.”
The school hired Pittman in December 2019. He finished his career at Arkansas with a 32-34 overall record in six seasons.
Arkansas began the season 2-3, heading into a bye before another tough road test at Tennessee on October 11
