GRAND BLANC TWP., MI – Police officials said they expect to find more victims once they secure the scene where nine people were wounded and one killed when a 40-year-old gunman opened fire at a Michigan church Sunday, Sept. 28.
“We do believe that we will find additional victims once we have that scene secure,” Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye said during a news conference Sunday afternoon.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, drove through the front door of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4285 McCandlish Road, in Grand Blanc, during Sunday service, police said. He then exited his vehicle and opened fire, according to police.
The gunman was fatally shot after exchanging gunfire with Grand Blanc Township police.
