Belting out classics by Elvis Presley and The Beatles could help people with common painful conditions, according to a new study.

Scientists discovered that group singing therapy online can help raise the quality of life for those battling lung diseases - including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung disease (ILD).

Academics from Monash University in Australia and the University of Cambridge analysed data from 101 patients across Australia. Half participated in a 12-week online singing programme.

During 90-minute sessions, participants were led through group singing of tracks including Elvis' Can't Help Falling In Love, Let It Be by The Beatles and wartime favourite Pack Up Your Troubles.
