(FOX40.COM) — A 91-year-old woman is dead after an illegal U-turn attempt led to a two-vehicle crash on Saturday, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

Police said officers responded to reports of a crash around 2:50 p.m. in the area of Bond Road at Salmon Creek Drive.

A Lincoln was traveling northbound on Salmon Creek Drive, approaching Bond Road, when it attempted an illegal U-turn.

A Toyota was traveling eastbound on Bond Road at the same time, police said.

The Lincoln pulled into the path of the Toyota, resulting in the Toyota hitting the driver's side of the Lincoln.

The 91-year-old driver of the Lincoln was taken to the hospital, where she died.
