At least two people are dead, including the gunman, and nine others are being treated at local hospitals following a mass shooting and fire at a Grand Blanc Township church on Sunday morning, Sept. 28. Officials fear more people may have been trapped inside the burning church and perished.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCandlish was full, with "hundreds" of people attending services about 10:25 a.m., when a gunman rammed a vehicle into the church and opened fire with an assault rifle, "firing several rounds at individuals within the church," said Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye during a news conference.
"Officers who are trained immediately responded to the area," he said. "One is a DNR (Department of Natural Resources) officer. One was a Grand Blanc
