DETROIT -- The injury bug that has plagued the Detroit Lions in recent weeks continued Sunday, this time sidelining safety Kerby Joseph.
The All-Pro defender exited with 4:36 left before halftime with a knee injury, shortly after the Lions had taken a 17-7 lead over the Cleveland Browns. His return was listed as questionable.
Joseph went down near the Browns’ 20-yard line following an interception by Lions cornerback D.J. Reed.
In the first quarter, Joseph played a pivotal role in steadying Detroit’s defense, intercepting Browns quarterback Joe Flacco with 1:46 left in the period. The takeaway set up a 48-yard Jake Bates field goal, giving the Lions a 10-7 lead early in the second quarter.
