CALHOUN COUNTY, Iowa -- Two people were killed and four were injured during a two-vehicle crash in Calhoun County Saturday night.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:50 p.m. on IA7 about three miles east of Mansion. Authorities say a van was westbound on IA7 when it crossed the center line and struck a truck which had been eastbound on IA7.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lane and caused both vehicles to leave the roadway in a northeast direction. The van rolled on it's side upon entering the ditch. The truck entered the ditch, struck a utility pole and came to rest in a field.

The Iowa State Patrol says three passengers in the van had been sitting on unrestrained patio furniture, which authorities say was purchased prior to the collision.
