The suspect in a deadly mass shooting in North Carolina once escorted an American Idol contestant to the Country Music Awards.

Shortly after a mass shooting in Southport on Sunday, Nigel Max Edge was arrested for allegedly committing the crime. Edge, who changed his name from Sean DeBevoise in 2023, escorted singer Kellie Pickler to the Country Music Awards in 2012.
