CANDLER COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A high-speed chase ended in the driver’s arrest on several charges, including felony fleeing and attempting to elude.
The Candler County Sheriff’s Office said this all began earlier Sunday when a deputy patrolling Highway 46 East caught a vehicle going over 100 miles per hour.
According to law enforcement, when the deputy tried to stop the car they said the driver fled while reaching speeds over 120 miles per hour across multiple dirt and paved county roads.
The chase continued into Bulloch County and into the City of Register, “passing near a church as services were ending. We are grateful no one was harmed."
At this point of the chase, Georgia State Patrol and the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office were requested for help.
