Over 400 left-wing extremists have been killed in Chhattisgarh in the 19 months since Vishnu Deo Sai assumed charge as the Chief Minister.

Amid the intense crackdown on the banned CPI (Maoist), the Chief Minister says in a interview to The Hindu that the left-wing extremism is in its last legs in the State.

While there have been calls to halt the security operations and instead go for peace talks, Mr. Sai said there was still room for talks with the Maoists and his government would come up with a “good” rehabilitation policy if they gave up arms and surrender.
