The search for a man who went missing in Miami-Dade County ended after investigators found his body in a canal on Saturday morning, officials said.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, officers received reports of a potential missing boater on Friday at around 7 p.m.

During their search for the missing man, investigators found an unoccupied personal watercraft in a canal in Kendall.

As they continued to search for the owner of the personal watercraft, they found his body in the water.

Friends identified the man as 20-year-old Giancarlo Gonzalez.

NBC6 spoke to Gonzalez's best friend, who said they spoke to him the day before he died.
