A man has been charged over the alleged stabbing death of a man at a suburban Brisbane shopping centre, and the attempted sexual assault of a woman nearby.
Queensland Police said a 44-year-old man sustained a number of stab wounds near a shopping centre on Trevally Crescent in Manly West at about 1am on Sunday and died at the scene.
"It is alleged a 45-year-old man fled the scene on foot before grabbing an 18-year-old woman not known to him and attempting to sexually assault her on Miles Crescent around 2am," police said in a statement.
"A member of the public intervened and called police who quickly responded and arrested the man at the scene."
The woman was transported to Redlands Hospital for treatment.
A 45-year-old Wynnum man has been charged with one count each of murder, assaul
