The province has set a new date for an inquest into the 2019 death of a woman who was held in London police custody, after it was delayed earlier this year.
The inquest into the death of 28-year-old Amanda Bolt is now set for Nov. 27, expected to last a week and hear from nine witnesses. The inquest was set to begin on Feb. 17 but was delayed due to new evidence, the nature of which was not disclosed.
Bolt died on Nov. 13, 2019, in hospital after she was found unresponsive in a London police cell 10 days earlier.
“The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Ms. Bolt’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths,” reads a statement from the solicitor general. An inquest into Bolt’s death is mandatory by law.
