LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Community members in Lansing gathered today to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Moon Cabin at Woldumar Nature Center. The cabin, once the childhood home of Lansing architect Darius Moon, was moved to the nature center in 1980 to preserve history.

Since then, the cabin has become part of Woldumar’s environmental education programs, serving as a unique space to connect history with nature. For the first time, the nature center held a special event to honor one of its historic buildings.

“Woldumar exists to educate people about the natural environment, so a lot of the work that we do is real hands-on, science-in-nature type programming,” said Kevin Wernet, the executive director for Woldumar Nature Center.
