LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - History came to life today in Lansing as community members joined the Friends of Lansing’s Historic Cemeteries for the 19th annual Fall Walking Tour at Mount Hope Cemetery. The tour highlighted the lives and legacies of local innovators who helped shape the city and now rest of the historic site.

Loretta Stanaway, president of the Friends of Lansing’s Historic Cemeteries, said the event helps bridge a gap in public knowledge.

“A lot of people in Lansing are very poorly informed on our history, so there could be many names that people aren’t familiar with,” said Stanaway. “Others, they may be familiar with, but they won’t know the things that we’re going to share with them today about those people.”
