GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Florida Gators volleyball team lost its SEC opener on Friday night to Mississippi State. Now, they have the chance to bounce back against another SEC opponent as the Alabama Crimson Tide travels to Gainesville to take on the 19th-ranked Gators.
Florida came out hot with a 25 - 16 first set win, Bama doesn’t go away without a fight though, winning the 2nd set 25 - 23.
From here on out, it was nothing but the Gators. 3rd set: 25 -21. 4th set: 25 -21.
The Gators finished with 68 kills to Alabama’s 39, Florida with 71 digs, Bama with 54, and blocks tilted in favor of the Gators as well, 9 - 8.
The story on the match?? Jordyn Byrd. She finished with 24 kills, which is a career high for the sophomore, as she leads the Gators 3 sets to 1 against Alabama.
