LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Here in Arkansas, Razorback fandom runs deep.

Fans told THV11 that they were born in the state, which means the cardinal red and white are in their blood.

A part of that history: The Pittman Era.

After joining Arkansas in 2013 as an assistant head coach and offensive line coach, Sam Pittman returned in 2019 to lead the Razorbacks as head coach.

On Sunday, the team announced his release, marking the end of his five-year tenure.

"I think it's sad to see him go. I'm gonna miss him, but the team hasn't read my neck great," Daryl Krueger said.

Another fan, Laura Caldera, said that she's "happy they fired Sam Pittman."

Pittman finished with a 32–34 record, with criticism building, especially after Saturday's loss to Notre Dame.
