LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Residents along Autumn Way in the Valley Station neighborhood say they’re rattled after Ariannas Hernandez Rivera was found dead in her home on Sept. 14 with her throat slit.

Her husband, 60-year-old Eugenio Sanchez, was arrested Sunday and is charged with murder, first-degree strangulation, and tampering with physical evidence.

According to the arrest complaint, Sanchez was the only person seen in or around the home around the time Rivera died. Investigators noted he had a large cut on his hand consistent with a “sharp-edged object,” similar to a knife.

“You don’t want to ever leave your doors unlocked. That’s not safe to do that at all here,” said resident Kevin Marcell.
