The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup returns for its 13th edition on Tuesday, September 30, with India aiming to win it for the first time. Previously, India made it to the finals of the event in 2017, where they were defeated by England.

Australia is the defending champion, having won the trophy by beating England in the final in 2022. New Zealand is the only other country to have the event. The Kiwis achieved their victory 25 years ago.

The Women’s Cricket World Cup is considered the pinnacle of international women’s cricket. Held every four years, it currently features eight teams, with plans to expand the field to ten teams starting in 2029.

The eight teams in the 2025 edition are: India, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka.
