A dramatic police pursuit through Melbourne’s eastern suburbs spilled into the CBD on Monday afternoon, leaving one woman in hospital while four teenage boys were arrested.

The incident began around 12.30pm when officers spotted a BMW being driven erratically along the Eastern Freeway in Doncaster.

Police tracked the vehicle towards the city before it allegedly struck a pedestrian on Exhibition Street.

The car eventually came to a halt in the centre of Bourke Street Mall, where the four teenagers inside made a run for it.

Witnesses watched as the boys abandoned the BMW in the middle of the tram tracks before fleeing into the crowd.

The group – a 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds from Bendigo and the Yarra Ranges – were arrested a short time later outside a shopping compl
