Ruben Amorim retains the backing of Manchester United's board after defeat to Brentford.

Amorim was hoping to win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time against Brentford, but United suffered a further setback at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Club sources have said Amorim retains the backing of Old Trafford decision-makers and no replacement is being lined up.

Last month, United were forced to clarify that Amorim would not be axed after losing against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

The win against Chelsea improved the mood, but United were unable to build on that result against Brentford. Amorim has won just 34 points from a possible 99 in the top flight during his time in charge.
