An 'exhausted' walker on the West Highland Way was stretchered to safety following a rescue operation by the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team.

At around 6.13pm on Sunday, September 29, rescuers were called to a walker on the West Highland Way north of Inversnaid.

The walker was suffering from exhaustion, had been vomiting and was unable to continue their hike.

A multi-agency response was launched, which included the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat and rangers from Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

The casualty was assessed, warmed and taken by stretcher to a point where they could be taken to safety by boat.

Posting to social media, the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team said: "This evening at 6:13pm, Lomond MRT were called to assist a walker on the West Highland Way north of Inversnaid.
