An FIR has been filed in connection with the stampede at Tamil Nadu’s Karur that claimed 41 lives during the campaign of actor-turned-politician Vijay, chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

The case names three senior party leaders: District Secretary Mathiyazhagan, State General Secretary Bushi Anand, and State Joint Secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar. They have been booked under Sections 105, 110, 125 (b), and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, along with Section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Public Property Act.
