Jalin Hyatt can still hear Malik Nabers ’ words of encouragement.
“Look, man, your chance is going to come,” Nabers would say. “You’ve just got to be ready.”
This was last season, when Hyatt was down on himself while barely playing. Nabers, starring as a rookie, took the time to boost his fellow Giants wide receiver. Nabers knew that, at some point, the Giants might need Hyatt.
That time could be now.
Nabers suffered an apparent torn ACL during Sunday’s shocking, resilient 21-18 win over the Chargers, in rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s first NFL start. If Nabers is indeed out for the season, that would be a massive blow to the 1-3 Giants.
It also would be a huge opportunity for Hyatt, though he obviously never wanted to see his buddy go down.
