Police are investigating after four people were injured in separate shootings in Hartford on Sunday, leaving one person dead.

Investigators were alerted to two of the shootings when victims sought treatment at a local hospital and a third one when the city’s ShotSpotter system detected gunfire at 8:52 p.m. in the area of 131 Brook St., according to Sgt. Chris Mastroianni of the Hartford Police Department .

Responding officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, Mastroianni said. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Mastroianni. The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

Mastroianni said police then learned that a second victim believed to be injured in the same shooting had taken himself to a hospital, where he was treated for injuries
