BIDDEFORD, Maine — A man was seriously injured Sunday night after police said he was struck while running across the Maine Turnpike in Biddeford.

Maine State Police were contacted around 8:30 p.m. by Portland police, who had received a report from a truck driver who believed he had hit a pedestrian, the Maine Department of Public Safety said in a press release.

The driver, 68-year-old Michael Kilmer of West Virginia, initially thought he had struck a deer while driving northbound near mile 32, but later reviewed his in-truck camera and realized he had hit a person, police said.
