The Uttar Pradesh Police have initiated an inquiry into a complaint alleging that two brothers managed to secure jobs in the force on compensatory grounds after the death of their father.

Police said the elder brother, who had joined the police through this route, retired from service last year, while the younger brother continues to serve in the department.

Police said the inquiry will examine how both siblings were appointed under the same provision, which typically applies to only one dependent in a family. Such appointments are generally meant to provide financial relief to the bereaved family by offering employment to a dependent.
