The body of senior journalist Rajiv Pratap, who had been missing since the night of September 18, was recovered from Joshiada Lake in Uttarkashi district on Sunday, police said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Janak Singh Panwar confirmed the recovery and said the body was retrieved by search teams from the lake.

Pratap had gone missing under unexplained circumstances. His car was found abandoned on the bank of the Bhagirathi river on September 19, a day after his disappearance.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the journalist’s death and ordered a thorough and impartial investigation into the case. Members of the media fraternity also mourned the loss.
