(WFRV) - Officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that a recall has been issued for nearly 200,000 BMW vehicles of various models due to a fire risk.

According to a release from the NHTSA, BMW of North America issued the park outside recall on several BMW 2019-2022 models due to their risk of fire while being parked or driven.

Officials say the engine starter relay in the recalled models may corrode, causing the relay to overheat, short-circuit, and potentially start a fire.

BMW vehicle owners are being instructed to park outside and away from buildings or other vehicles until they can either confirm their vehicle is not subject to the recall or have their vehicle remedied.
