UPTOWN — Plans to build a five-story apartment building on the parking lot of a former school are moving forward.
Ald. Matt Martin (47th) approved a zoning change to allow Honore Properties to build 78 apartments on Uptown’s historic Our Lady of Lourdes church campus, 4641 N. Ashland Ave., Martin announced earlier this month.
The apartments will include five studios, 60 one-bedrooms, 9 two-bedrooms and four three-bedrooms, according to Martin’s website. Of those 78 units, 16 will be affordable, for people earning less than 60 percent of the area’s median income, as required by city law. The building will also have 33 off-street parking spaces.
Honore Properties submitted the proposal to Martin’s office in 2024, and has since revised it. The developer originally pitched a six-story build
