Nuno Espirito Santo has dropped James Ward-Prowse for his first match as West Ham manager, talkSPORT understands.

The midfielder is not part of the matchday squad for Monday's trip to Everton, which is live on talkSPORT .

Nuno will take charge of his new side for the first time at Hill Dickinson Stadium after replacing Graham Potter on Saturday.

The former Nottingham Forest boss has penned a three-year deal with the Hammers.

He has wasted no time stamping his authority on the squad, though, with Ward-Prowse immediately axed.

Despite starting all five Premier League matches under Potter this term, the 30-year-old will not be involved on Merseyside.

His absence is also purely based on selection, with Ward-Prowse not missing out through injury.
